{"id":1599,"date":"2019-02-01T11:30:19","date_gmt":"2019-02-01T11:30:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=1599"},"modified":"2019-07-15T14:32:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T13:32:55","slug":"bridgnorth-aluminium-highlights-the-importance-of-languages-to-year-9-pupils","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/bridgnorth-aluminium-highlights-the-importance-of-languages-to-year-9-pupils\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridgnorth Aluminium Highlights the Importance of Languages to Year 9 Pupils"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Languages_assembly.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Languages_assembly.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Languages_assembly-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption>Adrian Musgrave from Bridgnorth Aluminium talking to Year 9 pupils<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, Bridgnorth Aluminium came into school to talk to Year 9 students about the importance of language skills and how they can benefit a wide range of careers.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian Musgrave, the company\u2019s Sales and Marketing Manager, delivered the assembly and shared his own career path, highlighting the positive impact of learning a language.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the age of 16, Adrian took part in a school exchange to Germany, which sparked his interest in languages and galvanised him into taking A Levels in French and German.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keen to do a language at university, Adrian felt that taking it alongside another subject, such as science, engineering or business, was a powerful combination, so he opted for German with Management Studies.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of his degree course, he undertook a placement year with a German company in Hamburg and, after graduating, he returned to Germany and worked in Dusseldorf for four years.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Adrian is a member of the senior leadership team at Bridgnorth Aluminium and heads up the company\u2019s sales and marketing operations, dealing with customers around the globe.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To sum up, Adrian comments: \u201cLearning a language helps you to develop a more outward-looking perspective on the world and can open up a whole host of opportunities, both in your career and also on a personal level.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just about communicating in a different language, you are able to gain a much deeper understanding of the culture and the people, which helps you to develop stronger connections.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian\u2019s talk forms part of the extensive work that goes into preparing Year 9 students for making important decisions about their GCSE subject choices.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Languages are a key focus in the school as all Year 10 and 11 pupils now follow the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) pathway, which includes science, maths and English, with the addition of a humanity and a language.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, Bridgnorth Aluminium came into school to talk to Year 9 students about the importance of language skills and how they can benefit a wide range of careers.
