On Friday, a group of 29 Year 9 students had the chance to take their geography learning beyond the classroom with a fun and interactive fieldwork trip to Bishop\u2019s Wood. This trip gave them a taste of GCSE fieldwork and showed them how geography works in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students kicked off the day by coming up with their own research questions about rivers. They then figured out how to collect and measure the data needed to answer them. It was a great way to develop their investigative skills and get stuck into practical geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They gathered data from two different locations in Wyre Forest, comparing river features in different settings. With guidance from the Field Studies Council, they also got to try out some more advanced fieldwork techniques\u2014skills that will come in handy for anyone thinking about taking geography at GCSE or A-Level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip was a fantastic way to see learning in action and understand how fieldwork helps geographers make sense of the world. It was a great experience, and we hope it will encourage some students to opt for geography next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
