{"id":1561,"date":"2019-01-25T18:51:13","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T18:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=1561"},"modified":"2025-09-12T14:43:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T13:43:47","slug":"national-citizen-service-presentation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/national-citizen-service-presentation\/","title":{"rendered":"National Citizen Service Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image alignright\">\n<figure ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NCS_image.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NCS_image.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NCS_image-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">National Citizen Service is a once-in-a-lifetime experience<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On Monday, the National Citizen Service (NCS) is due to come into school to tell students about the incredible scheme that is available to 15 to 17-year olds.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With twelve weeks to fill after exams, NCS offers the ideal solution to make it a summer to remember, through exciting new challenges and experiences.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly 500,000 young people have already taken part, and Bridgnorth Endowed School Year 11 students are invited to be among this year\u2019s recruits.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme is split into four phases, specifically designed to help teenagers to discover who they are and what they can do.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Phase 1: Adventure<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme starts with five days at an outdoor pursuits centre, with the chance to try a variety of activities ranging from rock climbing and kayaking to problem solving and challenge courses. Meals and accommodation are provided plus there\u2019s entertainment lined up for the evenings.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Phase 2: Discovery<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second week gives teenagers the opportunity to live at a university or college, staying in student accommodation, and taking part in sessions to build key life skills, such as first aid training and interview techniques.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Phase 3: Action<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using these new-found skills, participants will plan and run their own social action project to make a difference to the local area. Past examples have included sponsored sleep outs to raise awareness of homelessness, regeneration projects, and fundraising events.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Phase 4: Celebration<\/strong><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The final phase is about celebration, and a graduation ceremony gives everyone the chance to relive the highlights and recognise the effort that each young person has dedicated to the programme.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total cost is just \u00a350 and NCS will be offering the students a discounted sign up price should they book their place within 10 days of the presentation (\u00a340 instead of \u00a350, but \u00a325 at any time if on free school meals).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, to boost your UCAS statement or CV, meet incredible people, take away a host of new skills and more confidence, as well as having plenty of fun, why not consider NCS?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, the National Citizen Service (NCS) is due to come into school to tell students about the incredible scheme that is available to 15 to 17-year olds.
