Electricity was in the air \u2013 quite literally \u2013 when Year 7 students were treated to a fantastic BAE Systems Roadshow on Wednesday. Delivered in collaboration with the RAF and the Royal Navy, this high-energy experience was designed to inspire curious minds and get students thinking about the science that powers our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fully aligned to the National Curriculum, the Roadshow features a dynamic 50-minute performance packed with multimedia, hands-on demonstrations, and plenty of \u201cwow\u201d factor. Alongside the live event, schools receive free digital resources to help teachers build on the experience in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme was electricity, and from understanding what it is to exploring how we generate it, students were taken on a journey through circuits, energy sources, and even some hair-raising fun with a Van de Graaff generator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major highlight saw Form Tutor, Miss Waterhouse, cycle her way to glory, lighting up an LED windmill and its colourful animations through sheer pedal power \u2013 a moment that left the room buzzing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miss Edwards, the school\u2019s Careers Officer, summed up the day perfectly: \u201cThe workshop was a great success, with our Year 7 students thoroughly enjoying the chance to explore complex scientific concepts through engaging visuals and interactive props.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are always enthusiastic to run these events to inspire and inform our younger students, and encourage them to think about real-world applications and future career opportunities in STEM.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
