The students also got the chance to unleash their creativity by having a go at putting a creative brief together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bridgnorth Veterinary Centre\u2019s Senior Vet, Sarah Probert, reflected on her own personal quest and talked to students, not just about careers in animal care, but how to boost their prospects with volunteering, thorough research and perseverance.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-1-sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14912\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-1-sm.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-1-sm-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Year 11 students practising their diagnosis skills on virtual MTU patient &#8216;Betty&#8217;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>For those interested in health and social care, Telford College brought in their mobile training unit, equipped with the very latest technology, and pupils had the opportunity to hone their diagnostic skills  on virtual patient &#8216;Betty&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emily Mouland, a newly-qualified solicitor from local law firm Lanyon Bowdler, gave a talk on different pathways to becoming a lawyer, including routes that don\u2019t require top grades at A Level and first-class law degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing the forces, we invited the Royal Air Force in to showcase the benefits of signing up and the huge number of careers on offer, ranging from cyberspace and engineering to hospitality and logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our very own Head of Science and Technology, Ms Stanley, wowed students with her background in forensic science, revealing how crime scenes are handled as well as some of the headline-grabbing cases she worked on and her experience as an expert witness.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-4-sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14914\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-4-sm.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/careers-4-sm-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Students taking part in the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation coaching session<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>For students thinking of sport as their next step, Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation gave them the chance to find out more about their sports courses and put them through their paces in a practical football coaching session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Careers Lead, Miss Edwards, commented: \u201cI\u2019d like to say a big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to come into school and provide some valuable insight into the world of work.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe day was a huge success and certainly inspired our Year 11 students to dream big and aim high when considering which direction to take after their GCSE exams.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve received a lot of really positive feedback from the students and already have some great ideas on how to make next year&#8217;s careers day even bigger and better.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Food to Forensics, Year 11 students were introduced to a variety of exciting future job roles and pathways at a brand-new careers event held in school this Tuesday.
