Dana Power AKA Puff the Dragon at the summit of Snowdon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Bridgnorth Endowed minibus driver, Dana Power, reached new heights on Sunday, when he embarked on a Snowdon Summit Challenge in a bid to raise funds for charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dana Power from Bridgnorth was joined by 18 other fancy-dressed friends as they took on the Welsh peak all in the name of charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dressed as his alter-ego Puff the Dragon, Dana, who has run 14 marathons in his time, was joined by members of the Wolverhampton Bob Sleigh team, along with the familiar faces of Donald Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and even Mr Blobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colourful collection of characters tackled the nine-mile Llanberis path \u2013 the longest route up the mountain, classified as hard and strenuous \u2013 to raise money for local charity, Severn Hospice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenging Terrain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was the toughest nine miles I’ve ever done \u2013 give me a marathon any day,\u201d said Dana, who decided to take on the Snowdon challenge after both his sister and brother-in-law were looked after by Severn Hospice at the end of their lives in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was so, so hard,\u201d he added. \u201cIt’s a mountain so it’s going to be difficult, but I never expected the terrain under your feet. It was incredibly challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe shale, rocks, boulders and steep steps were awkward to navigate dressed as Puff, and I was slipping and sliding all over the place, even fell over a few times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe weather conditions were also punishing as, about halfway up, the mist started to come down and, when we eventually made it to the summit, it was blowing a gale and absolutely freezing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fundraising Boost<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 67-year-old, who has worked at Bridgnorth Endowed for six years, said they took about five hours to reach the top, raising \u00a3400 in a collection bucket on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a lot of fun but very tough. The bob sleigh team carried their bob sleigh all the way to the top and kept everyone entertained with music blasting out of sled.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’d do it again,” Dana summed up, “but I wouldn’t take the dragon with me next time. I couldn’t see a thing and even coming down was tricky as I really had to watch where Puff was putting his feet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
