Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum recently offered young people the opportunity to engage and respond to a piece of art by Dame Laura Knight for an exciting new exhibition which opened earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were invited to take part in the \u2018Starting Points 2024\u2019 exhibition by creating artwork inspired by one of the gallery\u2019s oil paintings called \u2018Landscape of Lake Windermere and the Langdale Pikes\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After evaluating the 1940s picture, students were encouraged to discuss what they saw, before choosing one of six starting points to create a new piece of art that would feature in the six-week public display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head of Creative Arts, Mrs Rhodes, commented: \u201cI gave this as a focus to Year 7, 8 and 9 students who come to lunchtime art clubs and was thrilled to see them respond so positively to the project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis wonderful opportunity came from the strong links we’ve built with the University of Worcester and I sincerely hope we can continue to work on further collaborative art projects like this in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
