{"id":14574,"date":"2024-05-21T14:03:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T13:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=14574"},"modified":"2024-06-29T14:14:32","modified_gmt":"2024-06-29T13:14:32","slug":"bes-students-triumph-at-rugby-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/bes-students-triumph-at-rugby-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridgnorth Endowed Students Triumph at Rugby Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TS.jpg 375w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TS-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Theo Skitt received the U14 Player of the Year award (centre)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of Bridgnorth Rugby Club mini and junior players, aged between 4 and 16, celebrated the 2023-24 season at a special awards event held in the club\u2019s fabulous new clubhouse on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among them were a number of Bridgnorth Endowed School students who received awards and recognition for their incredible achievements in the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations go to Theo Skitt, from Year 9, who was presented with the U14 Player of the Year award and Year 10\u2019s Oliver Mathers, who received the Most Improved Player award for the U15s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The girls also triumphed with Year 9 student, Maisie Archer, being named as the Players\u2019 Player for the girls\u2019 U15s and Layla Cook, from Year 7, scooping the Best Newcomer award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bridgnorth Rugby Club\u2019s Facebook page said: \u201cWell done to each and every player who pulls on our shirt, everyone\u2019s a winner\u201d and we couldn\u2019t agree more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PE Teacher, Mr Chase, comments: \u201cPhotos from the event featured many more happy, smiling BES students and it\u2019s great to see them blossoming, not only in rugby skills, but also life skills such as teamwork, confidence and resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt Bridgnorth Endowed, we recognised the power of rugby and are currently working in partnership with BRFC, who come in to school to deliver weekly sessions under their Star Scheme programme.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRugby is so beneficial to mental and physical health and we strongly encourage our students to give it a go.
