Year 8 pupils taking inspiration from the stained glass windows at St Leonard’s Church<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The stunning stained glass windows at Bridgnorth\u2019s St Leonard\u2019s Church were the focus of an immersive Year 8 art workshop which took place earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students got the chance to study the windows in detail before unleashing their creativity by having a go at their own designs, while soaking up the atmosphere of the beautiful Gothic church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve Tarling from The Churches Conservation Trust led the sessions and delivered a wealth of information about the church and the stained glass windows, one of which serves as a memorial to Thomas Rowley, a former headmaster of the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were also treated to a great story about local history at the end of the session, which was brought to life by Steve, who is also a performance storyteller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head of Creative Arts, Mrs Rhodes, said: \u201cOur Year 8s thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and learned a lot about the history of the church. It was a great opportunity for the students to work outside of the classroom and create artwork in a different environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
