{"id":13093,"date":"2023-05-23T20:20:29","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T19:20:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=13093"},"modified":"2023-05-26T10:39:54","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T09:39:54","slug":"best-boys-strengthen-primary-school-links","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/best-boys-strengthen-primary-school-links\/","title":{"rendered":"BESt Boys Strengthen Primary School Links"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/BESt-Boys-2023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13094\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/BESt-Boys-2023.jpg 375w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/BESt-Boys-2023-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bridgnorth Endowed&#8217;s BESt Boys at St Leonard&#8217;s Primary School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Bridgnorth Endowed recently launched an exciting new peer-to-peer support initiative, in a bid to strengthen links with local primaries and make the transition to secondary school easier for Year 6 pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on a buddy system, the &#8216;BESt Boys&#8217; programme is designed to offer primary school pupils the opportunity to work with and get to know older students as a way to boost engagement, positive attitude, and achievement in school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Easter, the group of 15 Year 8 ambassadors have been taking it in turns to go out to schools to listen to pupils read or join them in a range of other projects that differ from the usual sports activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, the group welcomed pupils from Beckbury and Morville to Bridgnorth Endowed, and helped them to make cakes, scones, pizzas and smoothies, using the school\u2019s fantastic cooking facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Head, Mrs Tristham, explains: \u201cThe idea behind the programme is rooted in the gap between boys and girls\u2019 attainment in education. Research points at the need for positive role models so we felt that this could be an effective approach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlthough both girls and boys take part in the activities, the aim is to target boys to try to address this issue as early as possible, as well as providing enjoyable experiences for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next on the list is gardening at St Leonard\u2019s School and there are many other exciting BESt Boys projects in the pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A big thank you to our wonderful BESt Boys \u2013 Isaac Brewin , Will Hobday, Alex Istifan, Eddie Sykes, Josh Law, Lucas Quinton, Ronnie Yates, Reubin Plain, Owen Bradley, Jack Archer, Ben Shotton, Oliver Abbott, Logan Thomas, Alfie Rose and George Hollis.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridgnorth Endowed recently launched an exciting new peer-to-peer support initiative, in a bid to strengthen links with local primaries and make the transition to secondary school easier for Year 6 pupils.
