{"id":12621,"date":"2023-03-13T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-13T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/?p=12621"},"modified":"2023-03-13T12:57:55","modified_gmt":"2023-03-13T12:57:55","slug":"a-new-chapter-for-bridgnorth-endoweds-school-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/a-new-chapter-for-bridgnorth-endoweds-school-library\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Chapter for Bridgnorth Endowed\u2019s School Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/library-launch.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12622\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/library-launch.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bridgnorthendowed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/library-launch-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bridgnorth Endowed\u2019s Year 10 student librarians (left to right): Molly Rois, Molly O&#8217;Gara, Martha Harford, Frankie Fellows, Emelia White, Sienna Turner, Amelie Maynard and Holly Maynard (not pictured)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Bridgnorth Endowed\u2019s school library is set to reopen its doors later today, following a six-month improvement programme to bring it back to its former glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new library management system has been installed, thousands of books have been scanned, comfy seating has been ordered, and a team of eight Year 10 student librarians are now trained and raring to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Headteacher, Mr Penn, who joined the school in September, made the decision to refresh the library and a working party, headed up by literacy lead, Mrs Summerhayes, was immediately galvanised into action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After evaluating several online library platforms, Accessit was eventually chosen and the team embarked on a series of training sessions to get the system up and running, and make the most of its many features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An appeal back in October saw students, parents, staff and members of the local community rally their support by donating hundreds of books to replenish the library and give dwindling stocks a much-needed boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More recently, thanks to a generous \u00a31500 donation from local company CM Rail Engineering, Bridgnorth Endowed is now able to purchase a bumper load of the latest books to bring the collection up to date after a three-year lull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thrilled with the newly-opened library, Mr Penn commented: \u201cThe support for the project has been truly overwhelming and I\u2019d like to thank everyone who has contributed to its success.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Members of staff sacrificed weekends to sort and scan the books, the response to the book appeal was phenomenal, and our wonderful student librarians have offered to give up social time to help to run the library.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted that our vision to create a tranquil hub for readers is now a reality and we look forward to encouraging our students to reengage with the library and develop a love of reading to last a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridgnorth Endowed\u2019s school library is set to reopen its doors later today, following a six-month improvement programme to bring it back to its former glory.
