This year’s European Day of Languages Bake Off entries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

To mark the European Day of Languages last Monday, students took part in a baking competition with a distinctly international flavour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The difficult task of judging went to Mr Penn, Mrs Hoyle, Mrs Sheffield and Mrs Porter, and the best bakes were eventually chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aiden McCann, from Year 7, was announced as the winner with his imaginative tri-flag cake, decorated with the Eiffel Tower, Loch Ness Monster and Leaning Tower of Pisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lewis Chamberlain’s French-themed cake took second place and Kaspar Clarke’s Ukrainian “surprise” cake was third. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, there were special mentions for Ajay Lockett (Y7), Hugo Metcalfe (Y7), Florence Walker (Y7) and Poppy Lang (Y8), whose cakes were all highly commended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Languages teacher, Mrs Porter, comments: \u201cA huge thank you to all the students who made cakes and the adults at home who supported this. The event was a great success and we made a whopping \u00a393.50 for charity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners have each received a prize, and every student who entered has been awarded house points and a certificate. Well done to everyone who took part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
