Earlier this month, students took part in an international-themed baking competition to mark the European Day of Languages.

With such an amazing array of creative and delicious cakes to choose from, judging was by no means an easy task.

However, Mr Butler and Mrs Lowden picked the top three bakes, and this week the students were awarded their certificates and prizes.

Hannah Cartman, from Year 8, won the contest with her Spanish flag cake, and Lily Mae Childs and Lily-May Proctor came second and third respectively.

Hannah, who enjoys baking as a hobby, said: “Taking part in the bake-off was great fun and I decided on Spain because I love all the flavours of Spanish food.”

The sale of the cakes raised £54.10, which will go towards funding two foreign language plays to be performed in school by theatre company, Onnatti Productions.

Well done to everyone that entered the competition.
