Pancake Day is on Tuesday 16th February this year and Bridgnorth Endowed would like to mark the occasion with a virtual pancake flipping contest.
We’re asking students and their families to whisk up some batter mix and have fun counting how many times they can individually flip a pancake without dropping it.
Shrove Tuesday has always been a family favourite and dates back to early Christian times when people used up rich foods, such as eggs, milk and sugar, before embarking on a 40-day fast in the run up to Easter.
The easiest way to get rid of these ingredients was to make pancakes or a fritter, and so the tradition began.
BES Food teacher, Mrs Lowden, has launched the challenge as a fun wellbeing event to cheer everyone up during lockdown and celebrate this popular annual event.
So, with your frying pans at the ready – get flipping!
Please email your pancake flipping photos and results to Mrs Lowden at firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday 21st February. The winners will be awarded house points and announced on the school website after half term.
