School Book Fair is a Big Hit

Students Dan Middleton and Thomas Culshaw enjoying the Book Fair

Last week’s Scholastic Book Fair attracted a large turnout, as students were able to buy, not only books, but also posters and a wide range of stationery items – all at half price.

Bridgnorth Endowed is a school that fosters a love of reading and the fairs are fun, pop-up events that give students the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy books.

Librarian, Mrs Peeler, comments: “We hold this popular event, just before Christmas every year, and once again, it has been a tremendous success. We’d like to thank parents, students and staff for all their support.”

“Over £500 worth of books and stationery were sold and, with a percentage of every item coming back to the school, we’ll be able to buy even more lovely books for our library.”

Organisers also ran a competition during the event and students were invited to write a Christmas poem, design a front cover for a new edition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and solve ‘Dingbats’ clues to discover book titles.

Five prizes of £5 book tokens, to spend at the fair, were up for grabs, and the winners were announced as:

  • Dingbats Quiz – William Ellison
  • Book Cover Design – Maddie Prockter
  • Christmas Poems – Rebecca Higgins, Charlotte Whitmore, and a joint entry from Hannah Cartman and Isabel Dodd

Congratulations to all the winners and well done to everyone who entered.
