Cross-Channel Swim Challenge

House Captains with swimmers from Years 7 to 11

In 1979, a team of six Bridgnorth Endowed School pupils swam the English Channel in 13 hours and 34 minutes, winning an award for the fastest junior relay swim that year.

On the 40th anniversary of this momentous event, pupils are set to take to the water again, as the school’s House Captains announce the first annual prom fundraiser and assemble an elite team to attempt the 21-mile distance.

The challenge will take place in the leisure centre swimming pool on Friday 5th April, and the aim is to swim a total of 1320 lengths to raise money through sponsorship.

Pupils of all ages are supporting the Year 11s to make the 2019 Prom the best in Bridgnorth Endowed history, and the hope is that family, friends and the local community will also get behind the event.
