The governing body is vital to a school’s success as it helps with strategy, works in partnership with the Headteacher, and ensures that the budget is properly managed.

Although unpaid, the governors at Bridgnorth Endowed School take their roles seriously and attend a minimum of two meetings of the full governing body per term.

Each governor is also a member of at least one sub-committee, all of which meet once a term or more. Meetings are normally held in the early evenings.

For effective continuity, the term of office is four years and members are either elected or nominated, as follows:

  • 2 Parent Governors (elected)
  • 2 Community Governors (appointed by members from within the parent body)
  • 7 Community Governors (appointed by members)
  • 3 Staff Governors (2 teachers, 1 support staff – elected)
  • Headteacher (ex Officio)
