In Years 7, 8 and 9 students complete a three-year foundation course, which aims to give them a broad, balanced education with a wide range of study.
All pupils study the core subjects of English, Maths and Science in ability groups. The most able students in Science are prepared for Triple Science and begin to study the course from the start of the summer term in Year 9.
The majority of pupils study Geography, History, French or Spanish, Art, Drama and Music as discrete subjects.
Most pupils study Digital Literacy with Computing, however, those with a particular interest and talent in Computer Science have specialist Computer Science lessons to prepare them for beginning the GCSE course in Year 10.
The school runs a two-week timetable system, allocating a set number of one-hour lessons to subjects across the fortnight.
