In Years 7, 8 and 9 students complete a three-year foundation course, which aims to give them a broad, balanced education with a wide range of study.
All Year 8 pupils study the core subjects of English, Maths and Science in ability groups.
Most pupils take up Spanish as a second language in Year 8, as preparation for choosing to specialise in one language from Year 9. A small group of the less able students continue to study one language, allowing them to develop their linguistic skills in more depth.
The school runs a two-week timetable system, allocating a set number of one-hour lessons to subjects across the fortnight.
