Picture of HeadteacherAfter twenty years teaching in four different schools it was my honour to become headteacher of Bridgnorth Endowed School in January 2009.

I started teaching Biology and Science in Essex before becoming head of Biology at Caistor Grammar School in Lincolnshire. It was here that I met my wife and where our twins were born. We then moved to Norfolk where I became head of Science at Smithdon High School in Hunstanton. The family enjoyed this time in particular as we were by the sea and the beaches at Hunstanton are fantastic.

We then moved to Yorkshire where I became Deputy Headteacher at Archbishop Holgate's School, an outstanding centre of teaching and learning. These four schools have given me a varied learning experience, from a school that was struggling and in the 98th percentile for teaching and learning to one that was one of the most improved schools in the country; selective education to full mixed comprehensive; from rural to urban schools. This breadth of experience really helped me prepare for headship.

My vision for Bridgnorth Endowed School is that we help pupils to achieve as much of their potential as possible in their time with us; that we help them to become full and rounded citizens, ready to move onto the next phase of their lives with the skills and qualifications that give them the foundations for success. To fulfil this we need to ensure the development of the home-school-pupil partnership that underpins and supports pupil development.

I look forward to working with staff, pupils, parents, Governors and other stakeholders as we develop the school towards becoming a centre of outstanding teaching and learning.
