The aim of this scheme is to give students in Shropshire schools and colleges the opportunity to participate in modular training which allows knowledge, skills and experience to be assessed and recorded. It provides thorough and realistic training in the running of a school or college library/learning resource centre and a valuable work experience.

Participation in the scheme indicates a commitment to serve the school/college over a minimum period of two terms (minimum service requirement thirty six hours) for Stage 2 trainees or 3 terms (fifty hours) for a Stage 2 Distinction certificate.

Trainees who, in the opinion of their supervisor and School Library Service appraiser, have undertaken extended work or demonstrated outstanding commitment to service will be awarded a Stage 2 Distinction certificate.
