Reporting an authorised pupil absencePlease report a pupil absence due to illness as soon as possible at the start of the school day, by phoning the school and asking for attendance. Alternatively, for your future convenience a text number is now available - please phone the school for details. |
Holidays During Term Time
We believe that parents give their children into our care because they support what we do and trust that we will do everything we can to help equip them for their life after school. We take this responsibility seriously.
We have thirty nine weeks of contact time in the year with our students to fulfil that expectation. Parents have the other thirteen weeks to take their children on museum and theatre visits, to take them on holiday, or do those other things that add to the fulfilment and fun of being a child.
For this reason, we are very reluctant to authorise student absence outside the normal school holiday period believing that continuity of learning is in their best interests.
If you are in any doubt about whether an activity will be authorised or not, please contact the school before planning or booking it. If you then wish to proceed with your proposed activity you will need to complete a pupil leave of absence form. This can be downloaded here, holiday_form.pdf, or collected from Student Services. The completed form must then be handed into student services, who will pass it to the Head Teacher for consideration. Your child will then receive a reply in the form of a letter handed to them by their form tutor. Please make sure holiday forms are handed in as early as possible to allow time to process the request.
All students MUST remember to sign in and out at student services with a valid note from parents, that has been signed by their tutor, otherwise their attendance records will show unauthorised absences
If your child is away from school due to illness, please phone the school and let us know (01746 760378), alternatively you can email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. On returning to school you will also need to provide your child with a note that they must then get signed by their tutor and pass onto Student Services.
